Yet virtually everyone who says that considers everything non manga produced to be non canon regardless of Toriyama's involvement major or minor and basically ingore everything that isn't Z (even the first series gets this treatment; I personally don't care for the term canon or debating what is and what isn't and I question its legitimacy these days, it's all pure nonsense to me). Honestly, they're all just a bunch of hypocrites who pick and choose based on quality and comparisons; if Toriyama had made the original manga extremely unpopular and GT was better produced, you can bet there will be many people dismissing the manga as "noncanon". That's one reason why I don't even bother so as much as giving that word any weight anymore; it can even eschew one's perception on what was of good quality.
Haha. Well I thank you for that. The problem is while DBZ is an awesome franchise, like Naruto and Bleach, you always get the most retarded fans who either hate the original (why?), who hate Kai (why?), or either tries to put down other stories within the series. It's ridiculous
All franchises have their fair share of nastiness, but some franchises stand out for how divided the fandoms are (Sonic the Hedgehog is an infamous example). People as a whole have different opinions, with some people being level headed, tolerant, and more down to earth while others are the complete opposite. The latter get more attention given how vocal they are, and while some fans of certain franchises state that they are but a vocal minority, as this article says about the Sonic fandom's current state, they're more numerous than some would like to believe or let on (or even be aware of):gamebabble.wordpress.com/2010/…
